Monta Lea Kramer
Monta Lea quilts on her “New Path to Hawaii” with the floor model Q-Snap. |
In 1987 Monta Lea Kramer, a quilter, was awarded a U.S. Patent for her
innovative frame for quilters and needle workers, using exclusive ridged clamps.
Initially using PVC to produce her frame, she quickly realized the weight, plus
the dangerously sharp edges, when PVC shatters, had to be replaced.
The custom manufacturer offered suggestions and high-impact polystyrene became
the material of choice. The floor model Q-snap weighs in at a mere 10 1/2
pounds, including the suitcase style carton, with handle. (Compare to 20 pounds
for the copycats.)
The lap-size frames are custom injected molded of polypropylene, a sturdy but
lightweight ideal material. These small frames boast smooth corners, weighing in
at only 6 ounces to 14 ounces, depending on size. (Copycats weigh in at a hefty
18 to 20 ounces and have bulky, loose elbows for the corners.)
We're so proud of our products, you will find our name, Q-Snap, address and
phone number on all our products. We warranty our Q-Snap frames, and promptly
replace defective parts.
